Thank you SMS students, staff and families for joining our mission once again this year to continue changing lives by providing clean drinking water to those in need in Honduras, Central America. It is an honor to work with all of you and we appreciate your help in providing water filters for those living in extreme poverty!
Our mission has been partnering with SMS on the Fresh Water Perspective Project for 10 years now (this is the 11th year!) and it is incredible to see how many water filters are sponsored every year. I (Erica Maldonado, Founder & CEO) have personally witnessed how providing clean drinking water to those in need truly SAVES and CHANGES their lives. So many of the children and families that we work with suffer daily from parasites and water borne illnesses due to contaminated drinking water. The water filters we install are helping the people of Honduras to experience life with less illness, less pain and overall better health…truly incredible!
Typically we install water filters in homes, schools, hospitals and community centers. We always encourage filter recipients to share the use of their filter with family, friends and neighbors so that each filter can provide for as many people as possible.
In February 2023, our team of missionaries from the USA, along with our Honduran mission team, was able to install and deliver the filters that were sponsored by SMS. It was incredible to see several of our missionaries from Clarkston and Holly delivering the filters that were sponsored by last year’s students, staff and families. We are taking another team down this February and June, and look forward to installing the filters that are sponsored by all of you.
Every year students, staff and families at SMS amaze us with your generous hearts and willingness to help those in need and for that, we THANK YOU!
Hondurans have faced so many hardships, especially recently with the pandemic, lack of jobs, lack of resources, mandatory nationwide lockdowns, and extreme poverty causing crime levels to increase due to desperation. Our team in Honduras is already hard at work to find families in extreme need whose lives will be forever changed by the filters YOU help to sponsor this year. THANK YOU!!!
